ABOUT

A big name in high quality automotive services

A quality vehicle deserves quality service. Founded on the belief of delivering the finest service available, The Little Garage delivers a responsive, personalized experience whether you bring your car in for an oil change or full body repair. Since its inception in 1974, we’ve taken a truly customer service-based approach. Led by owner Matthew Meng, our team listens to your needs, communicates throughout the process, and uses decades of combined experience to ensure your car leaves The Little Garage better than it arrived.

Independently owned and operated for nearly 50 years, The Little Garage is a leading automotive shop specializing in German vehicles, particularly BMWs. Owners from the New York metropolitan area make their way to Huntington to ensure their car gets the best service available. We have learned it takes a team effort to achieve the highest possible level of customer satisfaction. Our specialists maintain current product knowledge and skills at a top level through the Robert Bosch Corporation Training Department, as well as the New York State Automobile Technician Training Program. Each has the in-depth knowledge it takes to diagnose hard-to-find problems. They are also a great source of information on general maintenance.

As a Bosch Authorized Service Center, The Little Garage has access to some of the most innovative automotive parts and systems to ensure proper maintenance of even the most complex vehicle systems. Access to quality, genuine parts that cannot be found at dealerships, competitively priced alternative parts, and the unparalleled knowledge of our parts department and team ensure your vehicle is in the best hands.

All About Quality

“I am fascinated by the mechanics of the shop and what they can do. I always pay attention to the customer and each unique issue they have. Before handing a vehicle over to the mechanic, I road test each car myself to pick up any little nuisances customers may be unaware of. The team and I independently determine the needs and develop a strategy – that’s the type of quality control I really try to maintain,” – Matthew Meng

Matthew has never changed his own oil in any of his cars. He’s never had an interest. While he didn’t intend to work in a garage, let alone own and operate one, he’s always taken an interest in the way things work. The Little Garage is the result of Matthew’s determination to get things done efficiently and correctly, which in turn has resulted in scores of happy customers. Having taken the wheel from the original founder Karl Topp, who first opened the shop in Woodside, Queens in 1974, Matthew had his first insight into the garage business when he purchased his first BMW – a 1972 Bavaria. He had been a loyal follower of Karl in taking care of his vehicle, so much so Karl took an interest in Matthew. It took a few years, but Matthew began working at The Little Garage in 1980, eventually buying the business in 1988. In 2000, he opened a second location in Huntington, closing the Queens shop shortly after in an effort to maintain quality of service. Owners of BMWs, Mercedes, Porches, and Audis still travel to Long Island from the five boroughs. Though he’s still not a mechanic in the philosophical sense, he’s learned a thing or two about German cars.

His dedication to his customers, business, and team exemplifies Matthew’s commitment to sustainability, as well as the environment. He sees value in maintaining and protecting what one has. A businessman, who also happens to be an avid gardener, Matthew is a board member of Friends of the Bay, Nassau County Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee, and the Coalition Against an UnSound Crossing, co-founder and secretary for the Long Island Environmental Voter Forum, president of the East Norwich Civic Association, and member of the Committee for the Beautification of East Norwich.

Night or day, Matthew is ready to answer the call of his customers. Call the 24/7 hotline at (631) 673-1700, stop by The Little Garage, or send him an email. Whether it’s vintage, classic, or the newest model available, Matthew and his team are the guys you want taking care of your car.

Partnering to Strengthen Business

“What makes Ace Auto the choice for our customers I think is our attention to detail. We are professional and we keep a very clean environment. It is among our core values and something others really seem to appreciate.” – Ken Frederick

Having partnered with The Little Garage in 2000, Ken Frederick of Ace Auto has prided his business on the crew’s attention to detail, professionalism, and the environment they keep. Having been in the automotive industry since 1983, and opening his own shop in 1987, Kenny and his team service customers’ vehicles, whether they’re new or existing customers, the same way they would service their own personal vehicles. Looking out for every detail, Ace Auto works with domestic and foreign cars and light trucks, as well as Huntington Community First Aid Squad’s first responder vehicles. The Little Garage and Ace Auto complement one another, serving the community of Huntington and well beyond. Book your appointment with Ace Auto by calling 631-673-4500.
